In my comparison of the Baby Jogger City Elite and the Bob Revolution, I revealed why it is a luxury swivel wheel stroller designed for city dwelling, fashion conscious parents. As a parent caring for children, you are likely going through a lot of research regarding the stuff to buy your newly born little one, and to make this process a little bit simpler and easier, I decided to write a detailed review on the Baby Jogger City Elite Single Stroller
The City Elite has been quite a success in the market for its unique features. With a front wheel suspension, it is an all terrain stroller that will provide a smooth ride for your baby even on rough and patched streets. The adjustable handle (33″ to 46″) can be lowered or raised to the right level for a tall or short person while pushing the stroller, and the parking brake is conveniently located on the handlebar, so it is easy to operate
I mentioned in my comparison of the City Elite and the Bob Revolution, that the Baby Jogger though packed with features best suited for everyday use, it is not recommended for parents who would like to take their baby out with them, while they go for a jog, or run. If you are an active parent or keen jogger, the stroller is not designed for jogging or running purposes.
Though still available on some online stores, Baby Jogger City Elite has been discontinued in the USA market from 2016. The City Mini GT is another excellent all terrain stroller that is great alternative to the City Elite. Both share many features and benefits. You may want to check out the City Mini GT.

Any user Complaints?
Some parents complain that the Baby Jogger City Elite Single Stroller cannot be used for newborns, but this is not exactly correct. Like most strollers, newborns are not recommended to seat on the upright seats until they are old enough to hold their heads unsupported. Parents with newborns can use the stroller with any of the compatible car seats from the major manufacturers listed above.
Another minor complain has been regarding the storage pockets. However, parents do not see these as drawbacks to their buying decision as there is ample storage in the undercarriage storage, and just the stroller can be used for newborns with a compatible infant car seat.
The Baby Jogger City Elite is a great value for money stroller with many features that will appeal to parents that do not plan to jog with a stroller. If you are a jogger mom or dad, the Summit X3 may be the stroller for you.
Hi there, my wife and I just purchased the City Elite after hearing great reviews from others. I had high hopes of jogging and running with the stroller…. until reading your review stating it is not intended for jogging or running. Wondering if you can explain why? I thought it would be great as the tires, seat and front suspension are all pros! Thanks in advance!
Hi Brad,
The City Elite is simply not built to take the pounding a jogging stroller would be subjected to. The manufacturer, Baby Jogger has therefore not certified the City Elite for jogging. You can read warning at Baby Jogger description of the City Elite.
Jeff
The Summit X3 is currently Baby Jogger’s only jogging stroller. The Summit XC, Summit 360, the FIT, the POD and many other jogging strollers have been discontinued. I am pretty certain Baby Jogger will in future, add more models to there jogging strollers as they have done in the past.
Hi,
Thanks for the great review. Recently I was searching for a new stroller and this baby jogger elite took my interest mostly.
But, do you know why suddenly (maybe from few days ago) this Baby jogger elite model was removed from the official Baby jogger webpage? And now it is really hard to find available stocks in Amazon or other online shops. If the manufacturer is planning to abandon this model, that hesitates me from purchasing the model now.
Hi Minho,
The City Elite is now discontinued in USA market from 2016. However, it is still available in the UK, and can be found on Baby Jogger UK website. It is also not on the discontinued product in the UK, so I guess it may still be around for a while. It is such a good all-round stroller, but the City Mini GT is an excellent alternative that is still available in the USA market. You may want to check it out.
Jeff
Baby Jogger City Mini GT is an excellent all terrian stroller that share a lot of common features and benefits with the City Elite. The Mini GT is a great alternative to the City Elite that is now discontinued in the USA market from 2016.
Hi, I just found your page and was disappointed to learn that the elite is not a jogger I guess I never read that when we bought ours last January. I am by no means a professional runner but I do run 5 to 15 miles a week and that is with my son in this stroller. It has been great for us so far, I run on paved paths and side walks and have no complaints. This is just my experience with this stroller.

Hi Elizabeth,
I know parents that have used the City Elite to jog, just like you do. Most parents are not aware of the manufacturer’s warning that it is not meant for jogging. But the warning is very clear, right in the first paragraph of Baby Jogger City Elite product description.
Having said that, I don’t know any parent that has experienced problem jogging lightly with the stroller.
Jeff
Hi, I purchased a baby jogger city elite recently and have a maxi Cosi car seat with it. I was wondering if it is a possible option to take the seat off the baby jogger and use only the stroller frame with carseat, if I wanted to?
Thank you
Hi Makeda,
The configuration option you would like to use with your Baby Jogger City Elite is not one recommended by the manufacturer. I would not advise taking out the seat on the Baby Jogger City Elite, and using it as a stroller frame for an infant car seat. The Baby Jogger City Select is the stroller designed for what you would like to achieve, and you can see why by comparing the design of the frames on both strollers. The seat on the City select can be detached easily, leaving a study frame that can be used in 16 different configurations.
Jeff
Baby Jogger City Elite and City Select stroller frames compared side by side. The City Select can be used as a stroller frame that can be configured in 16 different ways with infant car seats and other accessories.
I read a couple articles that say it tips backwards easily. What are your thoughts on this?
Hi Amanda,
My thoughts on the stroller tipping over is really well explained in the review. The City Elite is a very compact and light weight stroller, and if you don’t hang heavy stuff on the handlebar, the stroller will not tip over. I think it is all down to usage, parents that have experienced the stroller tipping over may have used it incorrectly. If you are worried about the tipping over, perhaps you should consider the City Mini GT.
The City Elite is now discontinued by Baby Jogger, and if I were to buy a compact light weight stroller today, I would go for the City Mini GT below:
Baby Jogger City Elite vs City Mini GT. Which would you buy? The City Mini GT would be my recommendation over the City Elite which is now a discontinued product, though still available to buy.
