Active runner or jogger parents with newborns are often very eager to get back to their exercise routines as soon as possible. While a jogging stroller offers the means to resume this outdoor lifestyle, the usual question from parents is, when can a baby ride in a jogging stroller?
Most top brand manufacturers of jogging stroller recommend that babies should not go in a jogging stroller until they can hold their head up unsupported, and this is would normally happen when they are about six months old or more, depending on individual baby’s growth and development.
If you are however really eager to hit the jogging trails with your baby from an early age, consider buying a jogging stroller that is compatible with an infant car seat. When attached to strollers, infant car seats offer excellent head support so you do not have to wait until your baby can hold the head up unsupported.
Parents are advised to walk, jog or run gently when starting out with babies in a stroller, avoiding rough and bumpy trails that may result in jolting a baby on the stroller.
I will add though that you seek the advise of your doctor before jogging or running with babies on a stroller from an early age.
