Compare Bob Revolution SE vs Stroller Strides

BOB Revolution SE Single Stroller

BOB Revolution SE Single Stroller

If you have seen the BOB Revolution SE and the Stroller Strides side by side, and find it difficult to tell one from the other, you are not alone my friend. Many parents are confused about the purpose of the Stroller Strides having been used to the hugely popular Revolution SE as tough all-terrain jogging stroller. The two strollers are exactly the same in design, dimensions, and construction materials.

BOB partnered with Fit4MOM, a fitness and exercise group for moms, and in 2004 released a version of the BOB Revolution SE with optional exercise Kit for Fit4MOM’s get fit jogging program for moms called Stroller Strides.  And the result of this partnership is what we have as the BOB Stroller Strides Fitness jogging stroller.

BOB Revolution Stroller Strides Single

The Stroller Strides is the only BOB jogging stroller you will find in RED color, and that is the easiest way to identify it from the Revolution SE, or indeed any other BOB stroller. But that is not the only difference between the two strollers. Because the Strides has been specifically produced for a stroller-based fitness program designed for moms with little children, it comes with some exercise kits and instruction manual that are not available on the Revolution SE.

We will look at the additional Fitness Kit on Stroller Strides which includes a week of classes by Fit4MOM, and compare its common features with the Revolution SE. The price difference between the two strollers is only $20 , and the decision on which version of the stroller to buy, will in my opinion, come down to how keen you are to follow through on a structured, and instruction led jogging exercise provided by the Stroller Strides. The color can also be a deciding factor, as you can only get the BOB Stroller Strides in red, but there is a choice of 4 colors with the BOB Revolution SE.

Common Features Between Bob Revolution SE vs Stroller Strides

At this point, I would normally compare the similarities between the features of two strollers, and their benefits over one another, but the Revolution SE and Stroller Strides are essentially the same stroller, and I will look at the key common features on both strollers below:

All-terrain – Both strollers have highly maneuverable 12.5 inch swivel front that can be locked forward for jogging, and 16 inch rear wheels designed to tackle rough and smooth terrains, providing very comfortable rides for babies, toddlers are infants alike.

Easy Fold – The strollers are easy to fold in 2 quick steps, and the wheels can be removed to collapse them to even more compact size for transportation and storage in small spaces.

Baby Safety Features – Padded 5-point harness to secure your child is available on the strollers, so is a foot operated rear parking brake , and wrist strap that will prevent a runaway stroller if you fall or trip.

Stroller Weight Capacity – The Revolution SE and the Strides will carry a baby from birth (plus other contents) up to 70 lbs/31.75 kg in total weight,. With such a high load limit, they are popular with moms looking for a stroller their child can grow with.

Weight of Stroller – They are sturdy strollers with light weight Aluminum frame construction. The Revolution SE weighs 25 lb/11.34 kg, and the Strides is 26 lb/11.75 kg. The small 1 lbs difference in weight as far as I can tell is due to the additional kit on the Stroller Strides.

Travel System Compatible? – Optional Infant Car Seat Adapter can be purchase to fit the strollers, and used  with compatible child car seats, both strollers convert to travel systems for families with newborns and very young babies.

Wheels and Tires – The stroller wheels and spokes are made of high-impact polymer composite, with pneumatic tires that make them very easy to push as they roll on any surface with ease.

Adjustable Suspension – With 3 inches of wheel travel, the coil spring and elastomer core shock absorbers on the strollers provide a smooth and comfortable ride for children over rough and uneven terrains.

Storage on Stroller – There is a large undercarriage cargo basket, on both strollers, two interior mesh seat pockets, and one large pocket on seatback that ensures you will not run out storage space.

Dimensions of the Revolution SE and the Stroller Strides:

  • Handle Bar Height: 40.0 in/102 cm
  • Overall Length: Swivel mode 46 in/117 cm, Jogging mode 51.5 in/131 cm

The Key Differences Between Bob Revolution SE vs Stroller Strides

Apart from the Fitness Kit and color that set the BOB Stroller Strides apart from the Revolution SE, there are some other minor differences between the strollers that are worth mentioning. Below are a summary of the differences between the two strollers:

Fitness Kit – Available only on the Stroller Strides, there is a Fitness Kit which includes BOB handlebar console, stroller strides exercise manual and exercise tubing. One free week of exercise classes with Fit4MOM is also included with the Fitness Kit. If you don’t have a Stroller Strides class near you, the exercise Kit and instruction manual can be used at home for power walks, Isometric Bicep Lifts, Squats, Curls, Presses and much more/

Colors – Stroller Strides is available only in a RED color, the Revolution SE can however be purchased in 4 colors – Navy, Orange, Black, and Plum

Price – Surprisingly, the Stroller Strides is only $20 more expensive than the list price of the Revolution SE. This I think is a bonus for active moms, as I think the stroller could have been priced far more expensive, considering that it is marketed as a Fitness stroller, particularly for pregnant moms, and new parents with newborns, toddlers and infants.

Why buy Bob Revolution SE or the Stroller Strides?

If you like red color, want the motivation of a Fitness Kit, and the instructions to help you get in shape, I would recommend the BOB Stroller Strides as a great deal. You will be buying exactly what is a Revolution SE jogging stroller, with all the extra exercise kit. However, if you have your own exercise routine with a jogger, red is not your color, and you would rather prefer your stroller in black, orange, plum or Navy, then there is a good choice for you in the BOB Revolution SE.

Amazon has a great deal on both strollers, and at the time of this review, both the Stroller Strides and Revolution SE can be purchased at a 25% discount. The promo may still be available if you check today.
